Safari Season: March to October

The country of South Africa is situated on the most southern point of the African continent.  It is regarded as the most advanced country on the continent in various fields.  It is definitely the leader in Africa for the safari and tourism industry.

Today, South Africa has more wildlife roaming its privately owned game ranches than it has had in the past 100 years.  The value attached to wildlife comes directly from you, the sport hunter and photographic enthusiast.  The hunter and photographer may not know it, but he/she is indirectly responsible for the revival of the vast herds of game in South Africa through financial contributions.  The familiar saying "if it pays, it stays" is nowhere closer to the truth then in South Africa.  We are proud of you, the tourist.

Private game ranches in South Africa should not be compared to game ranches elsewhere in the world.  The game on these ranches are truly wild.  They sustain themselves with breeding and food and are not fed on a daily basis like ranches in other parts of the world.  Most ranches here are greater than 5000 acres in size.

Hunting

All the hunts in South Africa are custom planned to accommodate your wishes and desires.  Our main hunting area is in the Limpopo Province. The Limpopo valley is a well-trodden hunting ground of old and famous ivory hunters like Wally Johnson and company.  This is one of only two areas in South Africa where you will still experience the true African hunting experience.  Here you can sit on a granite hill with your PH while looking over the mopane, maroela, baobab and redbush willow glassing for game.  You will suddenly become aware of the smells and sounds of Africa and realize "I am in Africa!".

Along with the Big 5 (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard), we offer you more than 40 species of game to hunt. From the little Blue Duiker in the coastal forest of the Eastern Cape to the huge elephant in the Lowveld next to Kruger National Park or the Limpopo Valley, South Africa has it all.

Lodge

During your stay in South Africa, you will be hosted in high-class accommodations.  The food is of the highest standard that you will find in any hunting environment.  Our camps are setup to accommodate wives, families and groups.  Due to the infrastructure of South Africa, it is definitely the best country in Africa to bring your wife, children and a group of friends.  Side trips will be offered to non-hunting individuals that do not want to accompany the hunter into the field.  Side trips like a visit to Kruger National Park, Sun City (the Las Vegas of South Africa) or shopping malls in Pretoria, or Sandton City are available.  Visits to crocodile and lion breeding ranches, African art and craft markets and many other options are available.

Hunting Regions:
You can divide the hunting areas in South Africa into 3 regions.  This is very important to keep in mind when you compile your "what I want to hunt" list.

Region 1 is the Northern region.  This includes the Limpopo Valley, the lowveld next to Kruger National Park and areas north of Pretoria, the capital of South Africa.

Region 2 is the Natal coastal forest areas and the eastern Cape coastal region.

Region 3 is made up of the open grass plains of the Karoo and the Drakensberg mountain regions.  These regions and the available game within each region are specified in our trophy price list.
