My name is Johan Schoonbee. I was born on March 16, 1967 in the town of Bloemhof. Being the child of a farmer who loved nature and hunting, enabled me to lead a life in the African bush. At the age of 5, I moved to the Kruger National Park with my parents. It was here where I learned most of my knowledge of African game animals.
After high school I did 2 years of military training before studying Political Science at the University of Potchefstroom. After studying for 4 years and obtaining 2 degrees in political science, I decided to follow the rhythm of the African bush. I started a full time career of hunting and photographic safaris.

In 1987 my father bought a 6000 acre game ranch in the Northern Province on the Botswana border. In 1988, at the age of 21, I qualified as a professional hunter and hunting outfitter.

Terese Schoonbee was born in Powell Tennessee. I met her in 2001, and we got married in 2002. Since then she has been playing an active part in Schoonbee Safaris.

Main Lodge
Our main lodge can accommodate up to 8 people. The lodge is situated on our private 6000 acre game ranch. The lodge consists of a newly developed main building with a full bar and comfortable living area. Our goal is to accommodate you in a first class lodge, with out taking away the African experience. Through the construction of this lodge we have been able to achieve that goal. 

Your main bedroom and 3 more spacious bedrooms will be inside the main lodge. Each room has its own private bathroom with a flush toilet and cold and hot running water. Hair dryers are alsos provided in each room. 

On a warm day, your non-hunting companions can enjoy the luxury of our swimming pool or just lay out on the deck chairs and relax in the sun.  

Dining Pavilion
Most of our mouth watering meals will be enjoyed under our pavilion, situated close to the fire pit where many enjoyable moments have been shared. 

You will have the opportunity to enjoy some traditional South African cuisine, which is made up of beef, chicken, pork, fish and venison with some of the best tasting and freshest vegetables and salads you can imagine. Along with fine food you will be served some of the best red and white wines South Africa has to offer.
