Johan Schoonbee Safaris

My name is Johan Schoonbee. I was born on March 16, 1967 in the town of Bloemhof. Terese Schoonbee was born in Powell Tennessee. Johan met her in 2001, they got married in 2002. Since then she is playing active part in Schoonbee Safaris. Being the child of a farmer who loved nature and hunting, enabled me to lead a life in the African bush. At the age of 5, I moved to the Kruger National Park with my parents. It was here where most of my knowledge of African game animals was learned. After high school I did my 2 years military training before studying Political Science at the University of Potchefstroom. In 1987 my farther bought a 6000 acre game ranch in the Northern Province on the Botswana border. During 1988, at the age of 21, I qualified as a professional hunter and hunting outfitter. After 4 years of studies and obtaining 2 degrees in political science, I decided to follow the rhythm of the African bush and started a full time hunting and photographic safari career.

Main Lodge
In our main lodge, we can accommodate up to 8 people. The lodge is situated on our private 6000 acre game ranch. The lodge consists of a newly developed main building with a full bar and comfortable living area. Inside the main lodge will be your main bedroom and 3 more spacious bedrooms, each with there own private bathroom, flush toilet and cold and hot running water. Hair dryers are provided in each room.

Dining Pavillion
Most of our mouth watering meals will be enjoyed under our pavilion, situated close to the fire pit where where many enjoyable moments have been shared. On a warm day, your non-hunting companions can enjoy the luxury of our swimming pool or just lay out on the deck chairs to relax in the sun.

You will have the opportunity to enjoy some traditional South African cuisine, which is made up of beef, chicken, pork, fish and venison with some of the best tasting and freshest vegetables and salads you can imagine. Along with fine food you will be served some of the best red and white wines South Africa has to offer. Our goal is to accommodate you in a fist class lodge, with out taking away the African experience. Through the construction of this lodge we have been able to achieve that goal.
